AboutMy name is Heather Holm, and I’ve been designing and maintaining websites since 1997. A rather eclectic education and a broad range of life experience help me understand the needs of a wide range of clients. I have an Honours B.Sc. in Chemistry, a Masters degree in Sociology, and a variety of other training including some courses at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. I am no longer taking on new web design clients.

However, I do offer one-on-one WordPress tutorials by Zoom. If you are maintaining a WordPress website and getting stuck on technical details that you can’t figure out, make a little list and we can address them directly, and get you over that hump.

Looking for a Canadian web hosting company?

Over the last 30 years, I’ve used many different hosting companies based in Canada, the US and elsewhere, whether running my own accounts, or on behalf of clients whose sites were already hosted with a particular company when they came to me.

I’ve seen hosting companies come and go. Some get sold off to mega firms. Some leave their “legacy” clients languishing on outdated and overpriced platforms.

Some impose resource limits that make it impossible to edit a WordPress site efficiently – and then sell specialized “WordPress hosting” for a high price.

I’m so pleased to have found a hosting company based in Halifax with servers on a main node of the internet outside Montreal.

Most importantly for me, they’re configured for the resources that WordPress needs – on their shared hosting platform at no extra cost.

They’re also local to me, and Canadian. Their support service is prompt, friendly and personal. I feel a Nova Scotia vibe with them.
